Groom- Zachary James Reckas

Ceremony location:  Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Carmel, IN

Reception location: Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Carmel, IN

Honeymoon location: Sanibel Island, FL

Wedding date: May 3, 2014

When did you first meet: We first met when we were at Avon Middle School.

Where did you first meet: It was in our history class.  We sat next to each other.

When did you know you were going to marry him: We didn’t see each other between middle school and high school until prom.  We both went separately with a group of friends.  He asked me to dance, and our first dance is when I knew he was the love of my life.

How did he propose: If you can believe it, we were on our way to the grocery store.  He was so excited and couldn’t wait and asked me in the car on the way to Walmart!!  He told me he had a question to ask me. Then he said, “Would you spend the rest of your life with me?”  And of course I said, “Yes.”

Favorite thing to do together:  We enjoy just relaxing at home and watching movies together.

Wedding colors: Black, white, lavender

Number of guests: 150

Number in wedding party: 6

Wedding Style: Traditional

Beauty style: Simple and natural

Dress style:  Traditional

Most unique wedding personalization: Our names and wedding date on the bubble tubes.  Oh, and since he’s a BIG Batman fan, the garter was a Batman garter!

Something you did very different: We decided to do cupcakes and a small personal wedding cake for the two of us.  It’s so much easier for the guests to grab a cupcake or two to enjoy and you don’t have to have someone there cutting and plating cake pieces.

Something you did very traditional: The Bride’s Father is from Thailand, and the Groom’s Father is Greek.  We got married in a Greek Orthodox Church and the ceremony was full of tradition- it was beautiful! I also integrated in my mother in laws silk flowers from her wedding into my wedding flowers.

Something you would do all over again:  I would marry him all over again, and I would have my dad walk me down the aisle.

Something you would never do again: I can’t think of anything that we would do differently.  We loved every moment of it!

Most memorable wedding moment: Definitely our first dance, and our wedding party giving their toasts.

Best wedding decision: Getting married in the church with all our family and friends with us. Our family and friends were so also so helpful in everything from hair and make-up to even the food at the reception!

Best wedding overall advice: Definitely have your pictures done before the reception and wear comfortable shoes or take the time to break them in good BEFORE the wedding.
