WHO:

Bride- Whitney Carter

Groom- Drew Young

WHERE:

Ceremony location: Vineyard Community Church (Greenwood IN)

Reception location: Knights of Columbus

Honeymoon location: Gaylord Opryland Resort, Nashville TN

WHEN:

Wedding date: 06/07/13

WHY:

When did you first meet: We met in 8th grade! We were high school sweethearts. We dated until Drew moved to Arizona in 2004, and reconnected in 2012. We found out that we were as much in love as we ever were.

Where did you first meet: At our school, Greenwood Christian Academy, which is now the Vineyard Community Church. We held our ceremony in the same building where we met!

When did you know you were going to marry him: His birthday 2012. It was pretty clear we’d always be together after that.

How did he propose: I proposed to him! As teenagers, Drew often proclaimed that he expected his future wife should propose to him. I remembered this, and I thought I would grant his wish, so I got a bottle of champagne and some flowers and the rest is history.

Favorite thing to do together: We like to listen to records and work on art projects.

THE BRIDE OF THE MONTH WEDDING SCOOP:

Wedding colors: Turquoise and yellow. I would not change my colors for anything. They photographed so well!

Number of guests: 125

Number in wedding party: 8

Wedding Style:  Classic Summer Wedding

Dress style: A-Line embroidered gown with a sweetheart top and beaded cap sleeves

Most unique wedding personalization: We had a beautiful DIY wedding photo board, which displayed the wedding photos of each of our married party members and of our parents as well. We embellished it with blue and yellow decorations.

Something you did very different: We walked out of our ceremony to the Rod Stewart version of “Forever Young” as a tongue-in-cheek joke since our last name is Young.

Something you did very traditional: We lit a unity candle and took communion during our ceremony.

Something you would do all over again: I would do it ALL, all over again given the chance!

Something you would never do again: I would never again lose my car keys on the big day, and have my fiancé have to drive me to my salon appointment!

Most memorable wedding moment:  When we shared a bottle of champagne with our bridal party in the limousine (a white stretch Hummer!)

Best wedding decision: Having our ceremony in the building where we first met and inviting most of our high school senior class to share in our celebration was so amazing. We loved honoring our history together in that way.

Best wedding overall advice: Our first meeting before the pictures began was very special, helped with our nerves, and set the stage for our amazing day. I would advise any couple to arrange a special “first meeting” to share an intimate moment with each other before things really get started. This also makes less wait time for your guests after the wedding, since you are free to do all pictures beforehand.
