WHO:
Bride- Ali
Groom- Dan
WHERE:
Ceremony location: New Hope Church Greenwood, IN
Reception location: Valle Vista Country Club Greenwood, IN
Honeymoon location: Mediterranean Cruise (Italy/Greece)
WHEN:
Wedding date: October 16, 2010
WHY:
When did you first meet: We met our freshman year in college. My roommate was dating Dan’s roommate at the time…perfect set up! We started dating on October 16, 2005.
Where did you first meet: During our first week at Hanover, we kept running into each other all over campus!
When did you know you were going to marry him: Honestly? Pretty darn early in our relationship. Ha!
How did he propose: Dan took me to dinner to “celebrate my new job” (summer after college graduation)…I always gave him a hard time that he would never walk on the downtown canal with me…this time he happened to give in (his plan all along) and he asked me to marry him under a gazebo on the canal!
Favorite thing to do together: Play games, be active, watch live music…not much we don’t like doing together!
THE SCOOP:
Wedding colors: Apple green, brown, & a touch of light blue
Number of guests: 300ish
Number in wedding party: 14
Wedding style: Traditional (in a church), yet personalized (we didn’t use the traditional wedding march/music)
Dress style: Fitting-modified mermaid style (but I could move in it!)
Most unique wedding personalization: As a marketing nerd, I love personalization and logos. We had a specific “O’” design that was used on invitations, ceremony programs, cake napkins, and incorporated in the centerpieces. I loved it!
Something you did very different: Since Dan and I lean more to the preppy style, we went with the khaki slacks and navy blazers for the groomsmen, ushers, and dads. All of the guys wore Sperry Topsiders…turned out great!
Something you would do all over again: Getting photos done beforehand really helped! Getting photos done beforehand gives you room after the ceremony to relax because you won’t have to rush…plus, all of your guests do not have to wait over an hour for you to arrive at the reception venue.
Something you would never do again: I wouldn’t necessarily “NEVER do it again”, but I would probably insist that the bridesmaid dresses would be done sooner in the process. Having the bridesmaid dresses handmade was a great idea, but sometimes it was difficult to coordinate everything…where as just purchasing in a store would be easy. I guess that’s what I get for being too picky
Most memorable wedding moment: Walking down the aisle and seeing Dan tear up…I will never forget that moment.
Best wedding decision: Our best wedding decision was picking a reception venue where we had a luxury of inviting all of our family and friends. We didn’t have to cut out important friends (or family) to fit in a smaller venue. It was great to spend that night celebrating with all of our loved ones.
Best wedding overall advice: Don’t rush the planning and engagement time. It is really true what everyone says that it all goes by so fast…so ENJOY it all!!
