Bride- Jennifer (Dunbar) Storey

Groom- Nathan Storey

Ceremony location:  Zionsville United Methodist Church

Reception location: The Bridgewater Club

Honeymoon location: Maui, HI

Wedding date: December 1st, 2012

WHY: December 1st has always been a special day for my family. We celebrate the start of the Christmas season with a small gift to get us into the holiday spirit. It’s a tradition that my parents started when we were kids and we have continued ever since.

When did you first meet: January 4, 2008

Where did you first meet: At Fox and Hound for happy hour with friends. We were friends for several months before we started dating.

When did you know you were going to marry him: There was a spark between Nate and I from the first day we met.  But I knew that I was going to marry him about a year later. A few months after we started dating, Nate took me to New York City right after Christmas. It was our first time traveling together, and he was so thoughtful, attentive, and considerate about everything. I saw a different side of him that trip, and knew he was the one!

How did he propose: I came home from work on Friday night after a long and stressful week. When I walked in the door, he was waiting in the kitchen. There were candles lit and rose petals everywhere. He started playing “You are my Sunshine” (my favorite!) on the banjo, and sang the whole song to me. Then he got down on one knee and said, “I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?”

Favorite thing to do together: Boating! We also enjoy spending time with family, friends, and our dog, Lola.

Wedding colors: black and white with red accents and VERY sparkly

Number of guests: 250

Number in wedding party: We had 19 total including ushers, the ring bearer and the flower girl. I had 7 bridesmaids, he had 9 BEST men.

Wedding Style: Elegant and Traditional

Beauty style: Classic

Dress style: Beaded with a strapless, sweetheart neckline, A-line silhouette, and a satin bolero jacket.

Most unique wedding personalization: During our ceremony, Nate’s sister sang a beautiful rendition of “The Lord’s Prayer,” which brought tears to my eyes! His dad also played guitar and sang, “The Wedding Song (There is Love)” during the lighting of our Unity Candle.

Something you did very different: Our ring bearer (my nephew) and flower girl (my niece) were 2 years old and 2 months old (respectively). Rather than walking, my brother-in-law escorted them down the aisle and to their seats prior to the processional.

Something you did very traditional: My dad walked me down the aisle and gave me away. It was so special to have those few private moments with him, just before they opened the doors.

Something you would do all over again: Several things! But I would certainly dismiss all of the guests from their pews after the ceremony. It gave us a chance to greet all of our guests, and personally thank them for being a part of our day. The reception went so fast that we didn’t have time to speak with everyone later, so I was grateful we had a chance after the ceremony.

Something you would never do again: Worry so much about the things that are out of my control. It’s easier said than done!

Most memorable wedding moment: During the last song at the reception, all of our friends and family gathered around us in a circle on the dance floor. As we looked around surrounded by the people that mean the most to us, the overwhelming feelings of love, friendship and support were absolutely breathtaking!

Best wedding decision: All of it – we had an absolutely amazing day. Everything was above and beyond what I ever could have imagined. It was perfect.

Best wedding overall advice: A wedding is a celebration, not a performance. If at the end of the day you are married to the one you love, then everything went perfectly.
