WHO:

Bride- Lana Lewis

Groom- Cole Lewis

WHERE:

Ceremony location:  Indianapolis Zoo, Efroymson Wedding Garden

Reception location: Indianapolis Zoo, Hulman Riverhouse

Honeymoon location: My family’s lake house in northern Michigan

WHEN:

Wedding date: August 21, 2010

WHY:

When did you first meet: We met in the summer of 2002 through a mutual friend of my brother’s. He was a senior in high school and I was a sophomore. He was my FIRST boyfriend!

Where did you first meet: We met at my parent’s house when my brother had over some friends.

When did you know you were going to marry him: When Cole came home on leave from the Air Force for the first time, I knew he was going to be my husband some day. Even though he was being reassigned to a base in England, I knew I would wait as long as it took.

How did he propose: The day after he asked my father for permission to marry me, we went to the zoo for a date. As we were walking through the garden that we later got married in, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.

Favorite thing to do together: We love to spend time outdoors with our two dogs, Mary and Graham.

THE WEDDING SCOOP:

Wedding colors: Navy and purple

Number of guests: 150

Number in wedding party: 8 couples, flower girl/ ring bearer, and 3 ushers

Wedding Style: Garden

Beauty style: Classic, Timeless

Dress style: Contemporary- Ivory colored, sweetheart neckline, strapless, A-line with beading and some lace

Most unique wedding personalization: Since it was an outdoor summer wedding, we made our program fold out into a fan that guests could use to cool themselves.

Something you did very different: We didn’t go on a true ‘honeymoon.’ Instead, we went to our family’s lake house in Michigan with our dog. We wanted to be together as our little family for the first time as husband and wife.

Something you did very traditional: We included all of our family in the ceremony by giving them flowers to carry or wear.

Something you would do all over again: The whole experience was great, but the moment we first kissed was the best. I guess I’d blocked out all the guests, but that was the moment I heard them cheering and I knew it was time to celebrate!

Something you would never do again: We would have made sure that the entire wedding party, including us, received cake. There was a timing miscommunication and the cake was served after we left the table.

Most memorable wedding moment: Our most memorable moment was when we were finally out of the guests sight after walking up the aisle and had our “We’re finally married!!” moment together. Our photographer took a beautiful picture and we didn’t even know she was there.

Best wedding decision: Marrying my best friend:)!!!

Best wedding overall advice: Take the time to savor every moment of your wedding day. From getting ready with your girls to thanking the last guest, take it all in. It’s a day you can never repeat and one you’ll want to tell your grandkids about!
