Bride- Amber Spitznogle
Groom- Michael DeFabis
Ceremony location: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton: 10655 Haverstick Road, Carmel, IN
Reception location: Highland Country Club: 1050 West 52nd St, Indianapolis, IN 46228
Honeymoon location: Rivera Maya, Mexico
Wedding date: April 13th, 2013
When did you first meet: Mutual friend, Michael had a training class with Kathleen, Kathleen was an old friend of mine. Michael contacted me through Facebook. After a few failed attempts to hang out and me even standing Michael up, we finally went out on an AMAZING first date.
Where did you first meet: Our first date was at Rick’s Boatyard on April 14th, 2010. The date was perfect, it was a warm spring day we sat out on the deck and had drinks and appetizers. I laughed at all Michael’s jokes and Michael says he was fixated on my beauty. The rest is history.
When did you know you were going to marry him: After meeting his family- I went to his parent’s house for their annual bocce tournament. I knew Michael was a keeper when I saw how he interacted with his family and friends. He is very family oriented and it really showed that day.
How did he propose: Almost 2 years after we met on leap day; February 29th, 2012. I thought it was just a normal Wednesday but Michael had other plans. He proposed at our condo and had arranged a celebration dinner with both of our families at Rick’s Boatyard, where we had our first date. It was the perfect proposal.
Favorite thing to do together: I love lazy Sundays when we get to hang out all day together watching our favorite TV shows. I enjoy every moment I get to spend with Michael, there’s never a dull moment and we’re always laughing.
THE WEDDING SCOOP:
Wedding colors: Coral, grey, gold
Number of guests: 210
Number in wedding party: 16
Wedding Style: Party! Simple but elegant and FUN!
Beauty style: Vintage
Dress style: A-line lace with cap sleeves
Most unique wedding personalization: Fish in centerpieces? When we first started dating Michael got a salt-water fish tank and one of the first gifts I got him was 2 Nemo fish.
Something you did very different: No guarder/ boutique toss, danced with my Mom
Something you did very traditional: Catholic ceremony
Something you would do all over again: I would absolutely have my wedding at Highland Country Club, the food was great, the drinks were stiff and the staff was A-mazing! I would also hire the Walk-ins again; the dance floor was packed the whole night because of the them.
Something you would never do again: Flowers in the bubble bowl arrangements. Since the flowers couldn’t breathe there was condensation in the bowls.
Most memorable wedding moment: Our first dance, the Harlem shake, Michael singing Third Eye Blind, all of our friends and family dancing.
Best wedding decision: Band- The Walk-ins
Best wedding overall advice: Don’t sweat the small stuff…. At the end of the day people will not remember the fogged up bubble bowls but they will remember they had a great time.
