Groom- Kris Fortune

Reception location: Indianapolis Hilton Hotel & Suites

Honeymoon location: Sandals Grande Riviera Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Wedding date: March 21, 2015

We are pretty inseparable! Being together is our favorite and over the past 5 years we have become the best of friends. I finished nursing school in December and we felt like March was the perfect time to finally say “I Do!”

When did you first meet? April 2010

Where did you first meet? At Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN.

Happily Ever After to Emily and Kris from Circle City Bride Magazine!!! Thanks for sharing your love story!

When did you know you were going to marry him? When he told me he loved me on a park bench on Butler’s campus.

How did he propose? His family had been in town to watch him coach a baseball game, they had pretended to leave, and I was a bit sad because I had hoped this would be the weekend we got engaged. Kris tried to cheer me up by taking me to Mallow Run Winery for some wine, but when we arrived, his family and my family popped up out of nowhere and he proposed outside behind the actual building where Mallow Run is located.

Favorite thing to do together? Go out to eat or travel!

Wedding colors: Teal, Tiffany Blue, and Mint Green

Number of guests: 230

Number in wedding party: 19

Wedding Style: Traditional with some personal touches.

Beauty style: Traditional

Dress style: It was an A-Line cut with a sweetheart neck; the skirt of the dress was all different layers to give it a fun look!

Most unique wedding personalization: We had a video playing before the ceremony for guests to watch of pictures of us as children and then pictures of us together.

Something you did very different: Did not take any pictures at the church after the wedding, we literally signed our marriage certificate and headed downtown!

Something you did very traditional: A receiving line.

Something you would do all over again: Seeing each other before the wedding.

Something you would never do again: I truly cannot think of anything!

Most memorable wedding moment: Seeing Kris for the first time, and then spending the last few minutes just with my dad “in hiding” just before we walked down the aisle.

Best wedding decision: Doing a receiving line at the church.

Bride of the Month Best wedding overall advice: Do not stress over little things, you have to remember that at the end of the day you are left with a beautiful marriage and that is all that matters! Also, the Hilton was the perfect venue to work with for the reception, Celia took care of details I would have never thought about and everything went so smoothly!

Ceremony- Stones Crossing Church has been my church home for the majority of my life. I could never have dreamed of being married anywhere else!

Reception- Where do I start?? It was AMAZING! Their all-inclusive reception packages are perfect because they eliminate hidden costs that other venues bring to the table. Celia was so much fun to work with and she worked so hard to make our day picture perfect.

Officiant- Dr. Woodrow Church and Pastor Scott Luck have been close family friends for a long time and made our ceremony sentimental, beautiful, and unique while keeping a traditional touch on it!

Dress- From the Bridal Superstore

Accessories- Macy’s, my jewelry was perfect!

Hair- My cousins did our hair! Gabrielle and Lauren made each and every one of us look amazing; I truly loved my hair and each of the girl’s hair!

Make-up- The Make-Up Studio By Danielle Wilson, they were AMAZING! Such talent and ease working with them! They had all of our make-up done on time and even a little early on the wedding day, and we were all pleased with our make-up!

Tuxedos- Louie’s Tux Shop, very easy to work with, and cheaper than big chain stores!

Invitations- David’s Bridal’s online invitation website! So easy to use and it allowed me to look at a few different styles and customize! They had a great sale going on when we ordered our invites so it was perfect!

Flowers- Coffman’s Florist in Franklin, IN. Audrey was a dream to work with! She is so sweet, so talented, and her prices are so reasonable, you do not get the mark-up for wedding flowers that you can get with other florists!

Cake- A Piece of Cake in Greenwood, IN. We love their cakes! Our cake was delicious and the decorating was absolutely perfect!

Catering-Through the Hilton, the food was delish and Alex the banquet manager made sure everyone was taken care of from a food aspect!

Entertainment- Circle City Sound, Tim Glesing, was amazing! He took time to meet with us a month or two before hand to get a feeling of what we wanted and then made our reception fun and tasteful with his DJing skills!

Photographer- Joe DeFabis, we loved the photo booth package that was included with our photo package. Joe was very good about working with our huge wedding party, and our big families and made sure we got the pictures that we wanted! He has been doing this a long time and his expertise was something we truly valued.

Videographer-Jacob Gutzwiller, Gutz Visualz. Jacob is from near Fort Wayne, Indiana and I had heard of him because he was the videographer for one of my best friend’s weddings! Jacob was prompt, so kind, flexible and fun to work with on the wedding day! We are so excited to see our wedding video and so glad that we had Jacob there to capture our big day!

Transportation- Rockstar Limousine! Their party bus was so much fun! These guys are so laid back to work with and made our experience amazing! Their prices are great compared to other companies, and they were there at the perfect time on our wedding day! The bus was clean, and updated!!

Wedding Planner- While we did not have an actual wedding planner, we did have a few extra ladies that have not been mentioned yet. Debbie Clark, my aunt, was responsible for all of our centerpieces and decorations at the church and reception. She is truly talented at decorating and we were so blessed to have her! I was speechless on the day before the wedding seeing all of the decorations come together! They were beautiful! Another key player in the planning aspect was my best friend’s mom, Tracy Piercefield. Tracy is very detail oriented and has a love for planning! She was there every step of the way offering to help and advice for our wedding. Her centerpieces were gorgeous! Not only can she decorate, but she was the perfect coordinator for the day of events and all other events leading up to the wedding day.
