BRIDE OF THE MONTH

WHO: Bride- Mary Kelich

Groom- Joe Munson

WHERE: Ceremony location:  Ritz Charles Carmel, Indiana (chapel)

Reception location: Ritz Charles Carmel, Indiana (ballroom)

Honeymoon location: We went on a road trip in Michigan, hitting all the neat places to visit. We are planning on taking a more extravagant honeymoon in the next year.

WHEN: Wedding date: August 2, 2014

WHY: When did you first meet: July 2008

Where did you first meet: We met at the Tipton County Fair Truck Pull. Joe was a friend of my cousin Jonathon, who introduced us.

When did you know you were going to marry him: Right away!

How did he propose: Technically, Joe never proposed! When we bought our farm we decided it was time to get married. We went and picked out a ring and then we were engaged! I know, no sappy stuff!

Favorite thing to do together: We are both farm kids and enjoy working on the farm. Over the last year we have spent a lot of time fixing up our farm and we have had so much fun doing that!

THE BRIDE OF THE MONTH WEDDING SCOOP:

Wedding colors: Black and white

Number of guests: 300

Number in wedding party: 2 maids of honor, 2 groomsmen, 3 ushers, 3 flower girls, and 1 ring bearer

Bride of the Month Wedding Style: Classic and traditional

Bride of the Month Dress style: Strapless mermaid

Most unique wedding personalization: I wore my Grandmother’s pillbox hat that she wore at her wedding to my Grandfather in 1963.

Something you did very different: Unfortunately, Joe and I have no living grandparents, so in their honor we set up a table of their pictures at the reception.  We had so many compliments about how that was a nice way to remember our grandparents. Also, we dismissed everyone after the ceremony. Our parents then greeted our guests as they entered the ballroom and we visited with them at the reception. This kept everything moving!

Something you did very traditional: I did something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue!  Something old: Grandma’s pillbox hat, something new: a pearl jewelry set given to me by my parents, something borrowed: I wore my father-in-law’s wedding band (I put it through my pearl bracelet), and something blue: a garter given to me by mother-in-law!

Something you would do all over again: I really enjoyed getting ready the morning of the wedding. We had suites at the hotel across from the Ritz Charles. I was able to spend time with my bridal party and all of my family. It was so nice!

Something you would never do again: In the midst of all the wedding planning we decided to remodel our old farmhouse. We gutted it! Not only was I planning my wedding but also I was remodeling my 1885 farmhouse that had been in the family for generations. Plus, I have a job!

Most memorable wedding moment: My dad and I did a funny father dance! We started out dancing slow to the Farmer’s Daughter, then broke out into Rockin’ Robin, Staying Alive, and Johnny B. Goode. We started practicing two days before the wedding, but we put in a lot of hours and it was great!

Best wedding decision: Hiring a wedding planner! I was fortunate enough to have two fabulous ladies! I first started out with Indy Gigz. I ended up switching my date and Betsy already was booked on that weekend, so she led me to Gloria with Events By Design and she made it all perfect!

Bride of the Month Best wedding overall advice: Try to plan your wedding a year in advance so you can enjoy all of your planning and shopping. Hire a wedding planner! Don’t remodel your house at the same time! One major life-changing event at time is draining enough, plus you can enjoy it more! Finally, try to take time to have a moment to look at your reception and take it all in! I never got a chance to look at the reception and see everything before the guests arrived.
